We need salsa stories – and music. The stories are about my favourite songs of the salsa scene, and some stories behind them. This blog should hopefully provide insight into the salsa scene, not only to people who are just getting into it, but also to people who want to know more about what happened in salsa during a certain period of time.

Sin Salsa No Hay Paraiso!
This salsa story involves the legendary Puerto Rican salsa music band El Gran Combo, from the “Isla Del Encanto” (Paradise Island), Puerto Rico; is one of the most iconic bands in salsa history with a unique sound and style. It was formed in 1962. The group scored several major international hits and has been described as the “embodiment of the Puerto Rican salsa sound”.
I was lucky enough to see them perform live in Athens at the Todo Latino festival in 2008, and it was truly unforgettable. It was one of those moments where you know you’re going to remember forever—the energy was so high, and the crowd was so into it.
One of world’s favorite tracks is “Sin Salsa No Hay Paraiso” from their 2010 album of the same title. The lyrics describe the euphoria of salsa music and its benefits to individuals. It’s a way of living for the salseros in all over the world. The song is an exaggeration that is confirmed every single day, but it’s also a motto painted on walls in the streets because every day indeed Salsa is the Paradise.
